Take part in our Video Selfie Campaign

Hi Friends! We’d love to invite you to take part in our latest campaign.

We're creating a series of short videos featuring Friends answering common questions that enquirers often have about Quakers. For our first video, we’re asking: “Why do you go to Quaker Meetings?”

This series aims to share the variety of voices and experiences within our community, helping newcomers see the different people they might meet at a Quaker meeting.

You can watch our pilot video featuring members of the Discovering Quakers team here.

How to Take Part

Please send us a short video (no longer than 2 minutes) answering: “Why do you go to Quaker meetings?”

We’re looking for:

  • Simple head-and-shoulders shots.
  • Vertical videos filmed on smartphones.
  • Natural, relaxed responses - speak like you’re talking to a friend.

These clips will be edited together into one video sharing answers from a range of Friends. The video will be shared on our website, social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) and may also be used for additional outreach. If we’re not able to use your video in this initial campaign, we may still use it as part of a future outreach project!

Where to Send Your Video:

Filming Tips:

  • Lighting: Use natural light if possible. Sit near a window or outside somewhere sunny.
  • Sound: Choose a quiet location with minimal background noise.
  • Camera setup: Film vertically / in portrait. Prop your phone on a table, stack of books, or use a tripod if you have one. It is also fine to hold your phone if that's easier.
  • Take your time: Record a few takes - even if the first try feels good, film a few goes and send us your favourites.

If you’d like to be involved and have any questions, or ideas for future videos, we’d love to hear from you! Just email us at info@discoveringquakers.org.uk.
