On World Quaker Day, Sunday 5 October, the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) invites Friends to join with others around the globe to Love Your Neighbour. For those who aren’t familiar, World Quaker Day has been happening for about 12 years. It involves Quakers (of whom there are roughly 400,000 globally) pretty much everywhere they are (about 100 countries), and celebrating the fact that we are a world community of Friends, doing something together all in common.
Find out how to get involved with World Quaker Day (5th of October 2025).

One of the aspects about Quakerism I appreciate is that it continues to move forward, adapt and evolve. Recent changes have inspired Geoffrey Durham to revisit and update his most popular book, Being a Quaker: a guide for newcomers.
You’ll find copies of Being a Quaker at most Meetings, and it sits beside copies of Faith & Practice and Advices & Queries in the bookshop at Friends House. Enquirers and newcomers value its breadth and simplicity.
You can read more about the new 3rd edition and order copies in paperback and ebook format on our main Discovering Quakers website.
