Support Discovering Quakers

In 2025 alone Quaker membership nationally declined by 2%, which is frustrating at a time when our message seems ever more relevant. But in the same year the number of attenders actually increased by 7%. We believe that our work helping Enquirers to experience Quakerism and connect them with a Local Meeting contributed to this positive trend and we would like your help to build on this and bring new life into our communities.

Discovering Quakers is a small charitable organisation run by Friends with decades of experience in outreach, social media, advertising, and communication.

We act as a first point of contact for people curious about Quakers online. We promote Quakers through social media and our website, produce an newsletter for newcomers, run weekly online events for enquirers, and publish Quaker books such as 'Being a Quaker' and 'Questions about Quakers' by Geoffrey Durham.

Our outreach activities focus on the ‘digital marketing’ aspects of outreach – connecting with members of the public online, informing them about Quakers and helping them find their Local Meeting.

We receive no funding from Britain Yearly Meeting, although we coordinate closely with them, and we are entirely reliant on the generosity of individuals and Local Meetings donations to keep our work alive.

Could your Meeting help?

£10 to £20 a month helps us to continue providing accessible information about Quakers online through social media, blogposts and newsletters.

Considering a one-off donation?

£30 would cover the costs of printing and postage for a set of tailored materials to help you to welcome and involve newcomers effectively.
£50 would enable us to add the voice of one Quaker Lives speakers to an interactive library that helps enquirers hear different Quaker voices and learn about their journeys.
£120 enables us to provide our seamless referral system to guide people to your doors for a month.
£250 contributes to core costs allowing us to pilot an ‘Outreach in a Box’ scheme, giving meetings the tools to boost their own local outreach.
