Questions about Quakers

Join our new outreach campaign

We're launching a new outreach campaign answering questions about Quakers that are frequently asked by enquirers and newcomers. The campaign aims to demystify questions about Quakers and to help enquirers learn more about Quakerism in an accessible way.

The campaign will be run online (through our social media, websites and newsletters) and through posters and leaflets for Meetings to use at their place of meeting and beyond. The posters and leaflets provide space for you to add information about your Meeting or call to action for enquirers.

This coordinated campaign will run for the whole of the year, we will focus on answering one of the following 10 questions each month on our social media, blog posts and newsletters for enquirers.

  1. Are Quakers Christian?
  2. What happens in a Quaker Meeting?
  3. Why do Quakers sit in silence?
  4. Do Quakers believe in God?
  5. Is Quakerism a cult?
  6. What do Quakers believe?
  7. What are Quaker values?
  8. Is Quaker practice different from meditation?
  9. Are Quakers welcoming to all?
  10. How do I try a Quaker meeting?

Each poster links to the relevant question on our landing page which provides more information: info.discoveringquakers.org.uk/qaq/

Each poster and the leaflet also has space for Meetings to add their own information and call to action.

We are collecting requests for posters and leaflets during April and at Yearly Meeting at the start of May. Our plan is to start dispatching printed materials in early June. Posters are available in sets of 10 - one poster for each question - in three sizes; small (A5), medium (A4) and large (A3).

To avoid waste and make sure we provide Meetings with the materials that suit their needs, we are asking Meetings to tell us their requirements using a request form. You can see higher quality images of the posters on the request form page.
